Alan Kyeremanteng Announced His Resignation From the NPP

Alan Kyeremanten, a former Trade and Industry Minister, has announced his resignation from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). He claimed that during the recent superdelegates congress, the party did not treat him fairly.

Speaking at a news conference in Accra, the former flagbearer candidate announced his intention to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 general elections.

“Under the circumstances and given the context provided, I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honorably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate.”

Kyeremateng reaffirmed his commitment to tackling the nation’s urgent problems, including as social welfare, economic development, and job creation. He claimed that his choice to run as an independent was motivated by his conviction that using this strategy would enable him to more effectively advance the interests of the Ghanaian people.

His independent campaign poses a special challenge to Ghana’s existing political system and has the ability to change the political landscape.

On Tuesday, September 5, Mr. Alan Kyeremanten declared his withdrawal from the second round of the presidential contest, citing voting irregularities, unjust treatment, and bias following the unexpected third-place finish at the super delegates’ conference.
