Chieftaincy Dispute Erupts In Aduagyiri: Angry Residents Send Strong Warning To Okyehene

Chieftaincy Dispute Erupts In Aduagyiri: On August 31, 2023, the commuters of Aduagyiri in Ghana’s Eastern Region’s Akuapim South Municipal District heaped their complaints against the country’s president.

In a widely shared video, commuters can be seen expressing their concern over the ongoing chieftaincy issue in the community.

The tribal King of Akyem Abuakwa, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has recently installed a new chief for the community who they do not accept as a royal, according to a handful of them who talked to the media.

This has caused havoc amongst the Adoagyiri community and the relatives and friends of the enstooled leader.

The speaker in the video claimed that the town had been in turmoil ever since the Okyehene installed a new chief while the previous one was still in place.

She charged the Okyehene with orchestrating the mayhem in the community and urged Ghana’s president to take quick action to avert impending disaster.

Another person who took advantage of the opportunity to speak to the media revealed how on Saturday, August 26, 2023, a group of individuals entered the town of Aduagyiri in order to install a new chief.

She claims that the residents of Aduagyiri do not approve of the new chief and have asked Akuffo Addo to ask his nephew, the Okyehene, to take the appropriate action.

“The Aduagyiri community was invaded on Saturday by a group of people carrying heavily armed security guards in order to install a new chief. The residents of Aduagyiri have shown a dislike for that chief. We are unable to handle two chiefs in Aduagyiri, thus we request that the president meet with his nephew to put things right” she laments.

Another said: “Nana Addo and his siblings should exercise caution in this town. Our leader, Efutu Dompre, is the only one we are aware of. And if they are planning to come here with land guards and armed men, we will face them equally” she warned.
