Ghanaian hiplife singer Peter Fameye made an ear itching-comment on live television about Ghanaian artists’ inability to fill performance venues outside of their comfort zone.
Fameye stated on Tv3 Ghana’s “TodaysShow” with Berla Mundi that Ghanaian artistes who claim to be internationally famous are finding it even more difficult to fill concert halls in America.
He gave an explanation that Ghanaian expats do not attend events headlined by their homegrown artists.
The “Nothing I Get” hitmaker revealed that a certain Ghanaian singer couldn’t attract even ten concertgoers in America at a concert. Even after Berla Mundi pressed him multiple times, he refused to provide the identity of the musician.
He claims that he is not exempt. Fameye went on to discuss his experiences with Ghanaians residing overseas who had little interest in attending performances organized by Ghanaian artists.
“Since I blew in 2019, I have mounted performances in America and I know what I am talking about. These Ghanaians in America even feel shy to throng event venues of a Ghanaian-organized music concert”
Fameye, who portrays fraustration while making his submission, has stated, “If Burna Boy announces a show, you will see these Ghanaians in abroad seeking permission from their various work places four months before the show.” They will not do this for Fameye or any other Ghanaian singer”.
“It is very horrible if you should witness this experience,” he said. Even those we consider international artistes struggle to command numbers outside of Ghana, and this is a truth.”
Fameye is a Ghanaian rapper and singer. He received his first professional award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2020, when he was named “Best New Artist of the Year.”
He has successful songs such as “Nothing I Get,” “Praise,” and others to his credit.
