Ghana Music is Gradually Losing Its Touch and Sauce – Medikal laments

Ghana Music is Gradually Losing Its Touch and Sauce – Medikal Laments: Rapper Medikal has taken to social media to lament over the state of Ghana’s music.

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 Rapper of the Year winner has stated categorically that Ghanaian music is gradually losing its touch and sauce.

He insisted that the entertainment aspect of making music in Ghana is gradually fading off, saying; “..the focus of fun and entertainment is gradually being swayed from entertainment to a target/goal”.

The “Omo Ada” hit singer went on to detail the impression that Ghanaian musicians and music enthusiasts have eliminated the fun side of the endeavor for unnecessary competitions.

Medikal in a tweet promulgated; “Ghana music is slowly losing its touch and sauce due to loads of pressure exerted by certain groups of people. The focus of fun and entertainment is gradually being swayed from entertainment to a target/goal. N/B Music Nobi competition”

His statement comes after a heated argument in the Ghanaian music fraternity where industry stakeholders are waging expectations on Ghanaian musicians to fill the O2 Arena.

It is becoming the norm that anytime a Nigerian artiste makes a move to fill the 20K O2 Arena, it generates an argument among music lovers in Ghana and at the end of it, pressure loomed on Ghanaian music makers to make a move to fill the concert arena.

Recently, Nigeria’s Asake filled the O2 Arena in London to its grim, and Ghanaians are back to the drawing board to question the relevance of their artists in the global market.

Stonebwoy has reacted to the unresisted argument among Ghanaians over the popular O2 Arena when he said “…..it is a call of awareness”. He also said, “…There is no pressure on us to fill the O2 Arena”.

However, Medikal observed that Ghanaian music is losing its touch and sauce due to the constant comparison and competition with Nigerians.

Social media users thronged to the comment section of his tweet to register their concerns in regards. Follow the thread below to read more comments:
