Shatta Wale beefs Stonebwoy on O2 Arena Pressure

Shatta Wale and Stonebowy O2 Arena:  Wale, a controversial dancehall performer, has bared his fangs at his colleague Stonebwoy in a new video that has gone viral on social media.

Stonebwoy’s statements during a live Twitter spaces debate on August 24 with 3 Entertainment’s Berla Mundi about industry demands and the goal of international exposure allegedly caused the new feud.

The conversation sought to examine the current situation of Ghana’s music industry in the aftermath of Nigerian artist Asake’s successful O2 stadium performance.

Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Stylz, discussed the artist’s absence from the Afronation Detroit festival during the chat and blamed it on suspected gatekeeping and sabotage in the Nigerian music industry.

Shatta Wale, however, appeared to have been provoked by Stonebwoy’s viewpoint on the pressures Ghanaian musicians experience to achieve the same level of success as their Nigerian counterparts.

Stonebwoy underlined that the sector needed a more solid base to support expansion and that pressures alone wouldn’t be sufficient.

 

“No pressure, like Sarkodie would say. I detect no pressure. “Awareness is what I see,” he said.

He emphasized the importance of creating efficient mechanisms and increasing awareness in order to foster indigenous talent.

We can exert as much pressure on ourselves as we like till we accomplish our goals, but if we apply it incorrectly, we won’t receive any results.

Shatta Wale, who is renowned for his candor, didn’t hold back when critiquing Stonebwoy’s perspective.

In the aforementioned video, Shatta Wale criticized Stonebwoy for trying to imitate Nigerian artists, specifically bringing up Burna Boy’s approach.

When asked if he was under pressure, Stonebwoy responded, “No pressure, but awareness. You present yourself on Instagram in a similar way to Burna Boy. Why haven’t you been told? He questioned

Stonebwoy’s unfavorable on-stage behavior was also brought up by Shatta Wale, casting doubt on his attitude to performances and professionalism.

“You are under pressure, so why do you want to enter the stage later and join Wizkid on stage at the same time? Consider what you accomplished at AfroNation Detroit.

When talking about Stonebwoy’s purported payment for concerts, Shatta Wale’s comments was very scathing.

Shatta Wale alleged that whereas prominent Nigerian musicians like Burna Boy earned significantly bigger payments, like $300,000, Stonebwoy only accepted $10,000.

Such choices, according to Shatta Wale, may have an impact on how important and respected an artist is seen to be in the industry.

His earlier remarks, which praised Asake for his performance at the O2 Arena while criticizing Ghanaian artists for failing to reach comparable heights, sparked debate and prompted inquiries about the systems in place to encourage homegrown artists.
