Sonnie Badu Praises Black Sherif For Winning VGMA Artist of The Year Over Piesie Esther

Sonnie Badu, an award-winning gospel musician, asserts that Black Sherif’s significant victory at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was advantageous for the music business.

Although Piesie Esther, Black Sherif‘s main rival for Artist of the Year, performed exceedingly well in the year under review, according to the “Enojare” hitmaker, the former is in a better position to represent Ghana globally.

“Piesie did excellent but it was good Black Sherif won it. Black Sherif just received an award in the US and that is what Ghana wants,” he said in an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz.

The 2023 BET Best International Flow winner should receive assistance from the whole music industry, he continued, so that he can effectively represent Ghana on the global stage.

“If I was part of the Entertainment fraternity, I would let everybody project that guy because that is what the Nigerians do. Blacko has everything it takes to take Ghana international.”

“We have to be deliberate. If I were the entertainment minister, I would look out for this guy and project him in this season. It’s a Ghana agenda, not an individualistic agenda.”

Black Sherif, from Ghana, is expected to take home the Best International Flow trophy at the BET Hiphop Awards in 2023.

This is significant since pre-recorded clips that appeared online on Wednesday morning showed that the ‘Kwaku the Traveler’ hitmaker was accepting the award live on stage in the US.

The event was taped in the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, according to the amateur footage that was leaked.
